As already reported by various newspapers and online newspapers, the preparatory demolition works have begun for the restructuring of the Bolognese diamond “Gianni Falchi” and for the construction of the Cittadella dello Sport which should be implemented in area of the Piazzale Atleti Azzurri d’Italiaalso thanks to the funds of the PNRR.
The intervention, which should include in addition to the aforementioned “John Falchi”even the soccer field “Alberto Mario” and the New Bologna softball field “Alfiero Spisni”therefore began with the demolition of the building (now unusable for some time) which was located inside the Fortitudo Baseball home field adjacent to the bullpenthe area where Effe pitchers warm up before entering the game.
Present on site the Councilor for Sport Roberta Li Calzialso because the start of work was facilitated by an expense of the Municipality of Bologna of around 150 thousand euroswhich will then be followed by the million euro funded in the PNRR for sport and social inclusion.
The works for the redevelopment of the facilities and the creation of the Citadel will be divided according to the seasonal nature of the sports practiced on the aforementioned fields. The football part, the “Alberto Mario”, will be the protagonist of the works between June and December 2023, while the two diamonds will be redeveloped between October 2023 and March 2024.
We recall that the Fortitudo baseball field had already been partially renovated in 2019when Bologna and Castenaso had hosted the baseball Champions Cup, but the intervention that should be implemented between 2023 and 2024 should have a decidedly more impact.
