Leonardo Mayer travels to Finland with the Argentine Davis Cup team

n Leonardo Mayer from Corrientes will be part of the Argentine Davis Cup delegation that will travel to Finland today to play one of the first round qualifying playoffs next week.

Mayer will act as technical assistant to captain Guillermo Coria, a role he already fulfilled last year in the series against the Czech Republic and Italy.

After retiring from the professional circuit as a player, Mayer began working as a coach and was also summoned by “El Mago” Coria to be part of the Davis Cup coaching staff that has Martín García as sub-captain.

The players who will represent Argentina will be Francisco Cerúndolo (29 in the ATP ranking) from Buenos Aires and Pedro Cachín (58) from Cordoba to play the individual matches, while Máximo González (45) from Tandil and the man born in Buenos Aires , Andrés Molteni (37), will be in charge of assuming the doubles. While the fifth player will be Facundo Bagnis from Santa Fe (91).

The Espoo Metro Arena, located in Tapiola Espoo, 20 minutes from the capital Helsinki, was the stadium chosen for the series between Argentina and Finland that will be played in a week (Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 February).

The local team will be made up of Emil Ruusuvuori (46), Otto Virtanen (178) and Eero Vasa (1037) for the singles matches, while Harri Heliovaara (11 in the doubles ranking) and Patrik Niklas-Salminen (134) will be for the pairs.
