ABC MEX: Jalisco joins the basketball league

With the aim of extending the options for female professionalization, The Mexican Basketball Association created the ABC MEX League in which eight former teams from the Mexican Women’s Professional Basketball League will participateincluding the Escaramuzas de Jalisco and the Marineras de Puerto Vallarta.

Aztks of the State of Mexico, Barreteras of Zacatecas, Stars of Santiago, Las Plebes of Mazatlán, Atléticas de Monterrey and Algodoneras de la Comarca, are the teams that make up the list to which are added the Centauros de Chihuahua belonging to the State Basketball League from Chihuahua; Although at the moment there are nine squads, it is intended to increase the number to 12 participants before the month of March.

Meanwhile, the ABC League announced that it wants to be part of national and international tournaments, which is why it will seek certification from the Mexican Basketball Association ADEMEBA and the FIBA ​​International Basketball Federation.

One of the main objectives is to develop university talent, supporting them to finish their student stage and head towards professionalization, becoming prospects for National Cups in categories under 18, under 16, under 14 and under 12; while training and updating congresses will be provided to the trainers.

The start date of the first season is yet to be announced, the intention is that the calendar is not tied to that of other circuits so that the players have the option of staying active throughout the year if possible.
