Paris FC wins against Angers, Saint-Étienne remains second in Ligue 2

Saint-Étienne is the big winner of this 35th day of Ligue 2. This Saturday, in the afternoon, the Stéphanois won at home against Caen (1-0), which allowed them to take second place in the ranking. And they kept it, because, in the evening, the Angevins, who were previously the runners-up to the leaders Auxerre, lost on the lawn of Paris FC (1-3), who remains fifth on their side.

Ayoub Jabbari opened the scoring for the PFC, taking a magnificent cross from Kouadio-Yves Dabila (1-0, 18th), before Pierrick Capelle equalized, concluding an action initiated by a poor clearance from Obed Nkambadio (1 -1, 41st). Then finally, the Parisians, at the end of the match, made the difference, taking advantage of a header in his own goal from the unfortunate Yan Valery (2-1, 79th) and a cross shot from Ilan Kebbal (3 -1, 83rd), after a ball lost in front of his area by Yassin Belkhdim.

A nice cover by Wilitty Younoussa

For its part, Rodez consolidated its fourth place thanks to a success in Concarneau (1-2), with two achievements, one from Wilitty Younoussa with a nice recovery without control (0-1, 61st), the another from Kilian Corredor, a raid behind the Breton defense (0-2, 69th). The Bretons saved the honor through a lucky achievement by Thibault Sinquin, on a missed cross (1-2, 90th + 4).

On the other hand, Pau (seventh) sees the dams move away after having achieved a notable poor performance at home against Guingamp (1-2), who won thanks to Hugo Picard, who chained a hook and a strike cross from the left (0-1, 15th), and an own goal from Jordy Gaspar (1-2, 90th + 3). In the meantime, the Palois had returned to the score by Mons Bassouamina, who took a ball that was lying around in the area into the top corner (1-1, 90th + 2).

Laval moved to sixth following its success (1-0) at home against a still nervous Bordeaux, punished by expulsions of Gaëtan Weissbeck (74th) and his coach Albert Riera (89th). The only goal of the match was the work of Pablo Pagis, well launched by Jimmy Roye (1-0, 61st).

The most spectacular match of the evening took place in Annecy, which won at home against Bastia (3-2). Surprisingly, the Haut-Savoyards led 3-0 from… the 6th minute of play, thanks to the header of Gaby Jean (1-0, 2nd), the left foot of Ousmane Camara (2-0, 3rd) and to a lob from Nordine Kandil (3-0, 6th). In the second half, the Corsicans believed in an incredible comeback, scoring by Benjamin Santelli from the penalty spot (3-1, 60th) and by Florian Bianchini from close range (3-2, 64th), especially as Annecy midfielder Yohan Demoncy was excluded (88th). But ultimately the Rouge et Blanc maintained their success.

Finally, Valenciennes, already relegated, won a symbolic victory at home against Grenoble (2-0), thanks to goals from Nick Venema, who scored from a tight angle (1-0, 29th), before crossing to the head of Flamarion (2-0, 56th). The Amiens-Troyes match ended in a sad 0-0, while Ajaccio and Quevilly-Rouen Métropole were also neutralized at the Michel-Moretti stadium, Hamza Sakhi, with a lucky goal (1-1, 53rd) having responded to Normandy’s opening score from Kalifa Coulibaly (0-1, 24th).
