In the interview that Caroline Garcia gave us for the release of issue 83 of We Love Tennis Magazine, the Lyonnaise spoke of the work she had done so that her serve and in particular her first ball became a lethal weapon.
« I’ve always had good service, but it’s much more efficient and consistent than before. We worked in December with a physical problem: I can’t train as much as when I was younger. We had to prioritize a more aggressive style of play by working to get a good return and be efficient on the first strikes. We worked a lot on the serve and the sequence behind. My ball toss is also more regular and gives me more stability. My rhythm is better, simpler, less subject to internal or external stress. I also vary a little more and I am more confident. Apart from my throw, which is lower and slower, I don’t feel like I’ve transformed my serve that much either, but maybe I’m wrong…”
