Will Kevin Trapp be an issue at Bayern?

FC Bayern must replace their first-choice goalkeeper Manuel Neuer by the end of the season. The Munich are currently examining several options. According to current reports, Kevin Trapp could also become an issue on the Isar.

As “Sky” recently reported, Bayern are looking for a German-speaking goalkeeper who has sufficient international experience and ideally does not cost too much money. With a view to these criteria, the number of suitable goalkeepers is very manageable. In addition to Alexander Nübel’s desired solution, Gladbach’s Yann Sommer should also be an option for Munich.

The “ran” portal now brings another candidate into play with Kevin Trapp. The professional from Eintracht Frankfurt has everything the Bayern bosses are looking for.

Trapp faced a Frankfurt farewell in the summer

At 32, Trapp is in the best goalkeeper age. He also has more than 200 Bundesliga games and almost 60 games in the Champions and Europa League for PSG and SGE. How strong and consistent Trapp has been in recent years is shown by the fact that he recently came sixth in the world’s best goalkeeper rankings – ahead of Manuel Neuer and Marc Andre ter-Stegen.

Also with a view to Trapp’s contractual situation, a change is definitely within the realm of possibility. The six-time German international is only tied to Hessen until 2024. Trapp was on the verge of a move to Manchester United last summer but decided against it in the end. At that time there was a fee of 25 million euros, which those responsible in Frankfurt had called.

From a purely sporting point of view, Trapp would be a real reinforcement for Bayern. Nevertheless, a winter transfer to the Isar is very unlikely. Eintracht certainly has no interest in losing their top performer in the middle of the season. If at all, then only with an attractive fee. It is also questionable whether Trapp will give up his regular place in Frankfurt and (long-term) want to seek competition with Manuel Neuer.
