VfB Stuttgart: Labbadia is back with the mission to stay up | Sports

Here Bruno starts!

3,390 days after leaving Stuttgart in 2013, Bruno Labbadia (56) is back at VfB, where he has signed a contract until 2025. BILD shows how Labbadida’s first day went – and what he immediately noticed when he arrived.

Labbadia arrives at VfB yesterday around 1:30 p.m. with a trolley case, sports bag and a dark blue coat, and stands in the parking lot for 10 minutes with his cell phone to his ear. After a brief handshake with President Claus Vogt (53), Labbadia told BILD: “It’s exciting to come back to the place where you’ve worked before.”

In his last tenure at VfB (2010-2013), Labbadia led the club twice to avoiding the league and even to the Europa League in 2012. Now the Neckar is about existence. Almost no money, almost no points. A difficult mission to stay in the league awaits Labbadia. Will this succeed? Veteran Labbadia to BILD: “That’s what I’m here for now.”

And not alone. With Bernhard Trares and Benjamin Sachs, Labbadia brings two assistants to VfB, as well as an athletics trainer, Günter Kern. Yesterday afternoon Labbadia discussed how the current coaching team will continue with sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth (43) and boss Alexander Wehrle (47) in his office.

In order to finally get VfB back on course, changes have to be made now. Labbadia immediately noticed a change when he returned to VfB, as he tells BILD: “The containers are gone.”

What Labbadia means: The modules between the office and the training ground, in which the fitness room of the VfB professionals has been housed for almost ten years. Until now. The provisional from the last Labbadia time was demolished during the World Cup, and a new weight room is now being built for several million euros.

Labbadia would not have thought that the old containers at VfB would last so long. A new era is about to begin.
