the Pelicans take off again thanks to 40 points from McCollum

The New Orleans Pelicans returned to winning ways on Thursday against poorly ranked San Antonio 126-117 thanks to 40 points from CJ McCollum.

The Louisiana franchise, third in the Western Conference, ended a four-game losing streak and posted a record of 19 wins and 12 losses.

Lithuanian pivot Jonas contributed to this success with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Largely in the lead (94-75) after three quarters, the Pelicans finished coasting, conceding no less than 44 points in the last twelve minutes.

Jeremy Sochan scored 23 points for the Spurs who remain mired in second-to-bottom place in the Western Conference.

In the other game of the night, the Utah Jazz beat the Washington Wizards 120-112 with 25 points from Malik Beasley and 23 from Jordan Clarkson.

The Wizards can not get out of a disastrous series of 11 defeats in 12 games.
