Before becoming one of the star journalists of QUB radio, Alexandre Moranville-Ouellet evolved as a referee on the ice for young people aged between 6 and 14 years old. He was around 15 years old. Unsightly scenes, he has experienced more than one.

“There are people who lose their pedals in the stands”, he told the microphone of Guillaume Lavoie.

His worst matches have been in the morning, with young players under 10. According to him, many parents are convinced that their child is the next Sydney Crosby, and they do not hesitate to insult the referees, to throw objects on the ice and to lose their temper.

“I have a father who came to threaten me in the referees’ room after the game,” he said.

Alexandre Moranville-Ouellet calls on people to calm down. He reminds us that the purpose of practicing a sport, especially at a young age, is to have fun.

“The trophy is not gold, it is plastic,” he recalled.
