Lega Basket Serie A – Trieste Basketball, Spencer in view of the away match in Verona: “We are aware of the importance of the match but we don’t want to burden it with particular meanings”

Interviewed by Lorenzo Gatto, Skylar Spencer talked about himself in “Il Piccolo”, underlining how the arrival in Italy was preceded by adventures in Malaysia, Finland, Lithuania and Belgium: “Travelling the world and being forced to change places and habits year after year it is not easy. It’s part of our job and it’s something I’ve learned to accept and, in some respects, appreciate. European basketball is actually different from what is played in the United States. Here it is more based on individual plays, here we play a more systemic basketball in which I feel better”.

Spencer also has an excellent relationship with the staff: “We work a lot, the thing the coaching staff focus on the most is the need to keep aggression high during the forty minutes. Over the years I have always tried to improve the level of the championships in which I have played, here in Italy the quality of the centers forces me to improve my performance”.

Spencer looks forward to the away match on the Tezenis Verona parquet (Mondays at 20.30, live on Eleven Sports): “We are aware of the importance of the match but we don’t want to load it with particular meanings, so as not to put excessive pressure on this eve. Personally, I always try to approach championship challenges in the same way, preparing myself as best I can to be ready to give my all. It will be the same for next Monday’s match in Verona. I am convinced that we will see a Trieste that is adequate for the commitment we are going to face”.
