Victim of a sprain with during the victory of Tunisia against France, Wahbi Khazri will miss the next two days of Ligue 1.

Tunisian international striker Wahbi Khazri, injured in an ankle during the World Cup, will be the main absentee from the Montpellier team on Thursday in Lorient for the resumption of Ligue 1, we learned on Tuesday from the Hérault staff.

«Khazri is not yet in the squad. His recovery is progressing well. I hope to find him in training after the Marseille match (scheduled for January 2, editor’s note)”, declared the new coach Romain Pitau.

Khazri (31 years old, 74 caps) suffered a major ankle sprain on November 30 when he scored the winning goal for Tunisia against France (1-0) in the third and final group match at the World Cup at the Qatar.

Back on December 12 in Hérault, the former Saint-Etienne striker, who arrived in the offseason, has since been in intensive care at the club’s training center.

Khazri has played eleven matches this season (for eight starts) and scored two goals for Montpellier, 14th in Ligue 1 with a point lead over the first relegation before going to Lorient (current 5th) on Thursday.
