Gold, silver and bronze for the Spanish team in San Salvador

Spanish badminton shone once again on the final day of the El Salvador International, a tournament in which Manu Vázquez’s pupils have won gold, silver and bronze.

The golden metal has arrived thanks to the mixed doubles of Ania Setién and Joan Monroy, who has authoritatively surpassed the Indian couple of Tarun and Priya (21-11 and 21-17). The Spaniards have dominated the match until sentencing it without giving their rivals a chance.

The silver has also carried the stamp of Ania Setién, as she has been proclaimed runner-up in the individual event. The Gipuzkoan aspired to make up for her last defeat against the American Lam, but she could not keep up with the North American and ended up losing 11-21 and 9-21.

The bronze, which is for the men’s doubles between Monroy and Carlos Piris, had already been awarded since Saturday, when the Catalan couple lost in their semifinal match against the Czechs Ondřej Král and Adam Mendrek (22-20 and 12-21).
