The ESPN network said Friday that the 38-year-old man would have made sports bets, but none that would relate to NFL games. It is still a violation of circuit rules Goodell, who has not yet commented on the case.

Also according to the American media, Austin would appeal the decision.

The former receiver was not on the sidelines for Thursday night’s game between the Jets and the Jacksonville Jaguars. The latter have also won 19 to 3 at MetLife Stadium.

After stints on the staff of the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers, Austin reunited with Jets head coach Robert Saleh when he was hired on Jan. 18, 2021.
