“Sport in Itapecerica da Serra is one of the pillars of our society. Hosting this great international championship in the city, receiving all the delegations here, is a great honor”, said Mayor Dr. Francis Nakano.

Organized by the CBFA (Confederação Brasileira de Futebol Americano), in partnership with the City Hall, through the Sports and Leisure Secretariat, the event moved the city during the three days. From the opening on Friday night at the Municipal Gym, with the right to the Olympic torch, concerts and presentation of the national teams, passing through the exciting games until the closing last night (12/04), in an atmosphere of emotion, joy and fraternization.

For the municipal secretary of Sports and Leisure, Geraldo Pedroso, “it is a very important moment for our city, because we make ourselves available to a modality that is starting to take shape. We know that American Football and Flag Football are walking together with the objective of showing the world what this modality represents in 2028”.

To crown the South American of Flag Football, the Brazilian teams were crowned champions in both men’s and women’s. The girls, who took fourth place in the 2021 World Cup in Israel, were left in the competition that ended yesterday; in the final they beat Colombia by 34 x 12.

The men’s team also had an impeccable campaign, but with a more exciting script. The final couldn’t be better: an even game against our biggest rivals, the Argentines. With grit and determination, Brazil won by 35 to 33.
