Niners Chemnitz start with defeat in intermediate round

The Niners Chemnitz basketball team started the intermediate round of the FIBA Europe Cup with a defeat. The Bundesliga club lost the first group game in front of their home crowd on Tuesday against Cholet Basket 73:83 (35:47). Dominic Artis (22), Perry Ellis (19), TJ Campbell (13) and Enzo Goudou-Sinha (11) contributed most to the success of the French. Mindaugas Susinskas (16), Jonas Richter (14), Kevin Yebo (12) and Arnas Velicka (11) scored the most points for the Saxons.

The hosts could only keep up with the fourth in the first French league in the first quarter (21:22). Then the guests moved up 29:23 (13th) to twelve points before the break and at 73:56 (30th) had already made the decision before the last quarter. The Chemnitz team found no effective means against the opponent’s aggressive defense and also made too many misses from a distance. Only 8 out of 31 attempts landed in the opponent’s basket. The French, on the other hand, converted 10 of their 20 attempts from beyond the three-pointer line.
