Two-time Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games medalist Sherman Güity is nominated for the 2022 Best Male Parathlete of the Americas award, which is awarded by the Americas Paralympic Committee.

The 26-year-old sprinter shares this distinction with seven other para-athletes from disciplines including powerlifting, swimming, taekwondo, alpine skiing and wheelchair rugby.

The Costa Rican is one of the two Central Americans nominated for the award, along with the Salvadoran Hebert Aceituno. The other para-athletes are from Mexico, the United States, Argentina, Colombia, Chile and Brazil.

“For me, being recognized as one of the best athletes in America is something very good, because I feel that they are there seeing my level and this motivates me a lot to continue doing things well, to work very hard and to bring more medals and for That is why I ask you to vote for me”, commented the Olympic parathlete.

To cast a vote and support the national, it is only necessary to enter the official Instagram site of the Paralympic Committee of the Americas (@paralympicsapc) and comment on the post related to the award the name of Sherman Güity. Voting will close tomorrow at 12:00 pm and the three competitors who receive the most comments will advance to the final. At Tokyo 2020, Güity won the gold medal in the 200-meter dash, category T64, with a time of 21.43 seconds (current Paralympic record). In addition, he hung a silver medal in the 100-meter dash, category T64, with a time of 10.78 seconds. In the female branch, this award was given to the Peruvian Pilar Jáuregui, who practices badminton.
