Deportivo Pereira: the champion confirms the departure of 12 players by 2023 – Colombian Soccer – Sports

Just a couple of weeks have passed since the happiest day in history for the fans of the Deportivo Pereira: On December 7, the Matecañas were crowned Colombian professional soccer champions for the first time.

However, the joy that was generated after beating Independiente Medellín in the final in kicks from the penalty spot has been dissipating with the passing of the days.

The reason? Little by little, the champion squad, little by little, has been dismantled and the coach Alejandro Restrepo has been losing the base of the team. The first to leave was goalkeeper Harlen Castillo, who announced as soon as the final was over that it was his last game. Today he has not arranged with any team.

Subsequently, the Pereira fans received a new blow with the confirmation of the passage of their scorer, Leonardo Fabio Castro, to Millonarios.

This was the rout at Deportivo Pereira

Now, Deportivo Pereira’s own Twitter account confirms that there are 12 players leaving the institution. In addition to Castro and Castillo, there are Luis Lopez, Andres Felipe Correa, Duban Palace, Kevin Lugo, Harlin Suarez, Jose Luis Sinisterra, Daniel Linarez, Jader Maza, Yeiler Goez and Leider Berrio.

Brayan León does not appear on the list of players leaving, despite the fact that Junior from Barranquilla has already confirmed him as a new member of his team for the 2023 season.

According to the journalist Jorge Hurtado, León has a contract with Pereira until December 2024 and therefore Junior had to pay a termination clause to have him, for which the Matecana club’s lawyers are already working to make the corresponding claim.

For now, Pereira has not confirmed any reinforcements, in a year in which he will have his first international participation, in the group stage of the Copa Libertadores.
