England – United States
England failed to beat the United States in the group stage of the World Cup in Qatar. After the flying start a few days earlier against Iran (6-2), the formation of national coach Gareth Southgate now came no further than 0-0. With the ‘clash’ against Wales still to go, the English have a good chance of qualifying for the next round.
Wales – Iran
Reaching the eighth finals will be a hell of a job for Gareth Bale and his Wales teammates. The duel with Iran seemed to end in a draw for a long time, but Wales scored two goals in injury time: 0-2. With the duel with England still ahead, the prospects for the eighth finals are anything but rosy for Bale and his friends.
Qatar – Senegal
In the group of Orange, Senegal won 3-1 against host country Qatar on Friday afternoon. Because of that victory, the Dutch national team is assured of a place in the eighth finals with a victory over Ecuador on Friday. Senegal again has every chance of reaching the last 16, while Qatar still has a minimal, theoretical chance.
