Sancho NOT in England squad!

Hard times for an ex-BVB star!

On Thursday afternoon, England coach Gareth Southgate (52) announced his 26-man squad for the World Cup in Qatar, which begins in ten days.

One name is missing from the nomination list: Jadon Sancho (22/Manchester United).

His dream of the World Cup has burst. The English are not taking the former BVB star to the desert in Qatar.

The Three Lions coach himself gave one reason at the beginning of the nomination press conference. Southgate: “The World Cup starts in ten days, we hardly have time to form our own opinion of the players. The shape is therefore perhaps even more important than usual.” boom! That’s not really true with Sancho.

Sancho moved from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United in the summer of 2021 for a fee of 85 million. Also with the ulterior motive of establishing oneself in the Premier League and thus making it easier to apply for top international tournaments and the national team.

As of today it is clear: This plan literally went haywire. In 52 games at the Ronaldo Club, he managed just a measly eight goals and four assists. This season hasn’t been going well at all. The then BVB high-flyer scored three goals and provided one assist in 14 games so far.

He can’t build on his brilliant performances at Borussia Dortmund (50 goals and 64 assists in 137 games)!

HE shows him how to do it…

His ex-colleague Jude Bellingham (19/nine goals and two assists in 21 games) shows him how it’s done! Bellingham has shone in recent weeks with top performances on the national and international stage. This was not lost on Southgate either.

The result: Bellingham is going to the World Cup with the English and could play an important role there. Sancho NOT!

It also shows that the Bundesliga is still competitive. So you don’t have to switch to the English Premier League to be interesting for your national team.

Colleague İlkay Gündogan (32) from city rivals Manchester City and Kai Havertz (23/Chelsea FC) prove that it is also possible via the Premier League. Both have long been regular players in the German national team. Flick is also planning with them in Qatar. In addition, newcomer Armel-Bella Kotchup (20) and Thilo Kehrer (26), who switched from Paris to West Ham, should not be forgotten for the German national team.

In the case of Sancho, the move from BVB to the island backfired.

At the EM 2024 in Germany he has the next chance to prove himself. Now it’s up to him…
