Zverev celebrates and wins in Madrid

Olympic champion Alexander Zverev became the third German tennis professional to advance to the third round of the ATP Masters in Madrid. The Hamburg player celebrated a 6:3, 6:2 win against Borna Coric from Croatia. In the next match he now has to face the Canadian Denis Shapovalov.

After a balanced initial phase, Zverev got two breaks and won the first set. The 27-year-old was also able to break Coric’s serve twice in the second round. After 1:28 hours he converted his first match point.

Jan-Lennard Struff and Daniel Altmaier had previously also moved into round three. Struff now meets Ugo Humbert (France) Altmaier meets Hubert Hurkacz (Poland).
