Konga reaches a personal record in Warsaw and beats Kučvalska – Winter sports – Sportacentrs.com

As already reported, in the short program, the 23-year-old Latvian figure skater Kučvalska performed without significant mistakes and scored 51.10, which is her best score in the new season (she scored 49.61 in the Riga “Volvo” Cup at the beginning of November). Kong, 17, clocked 50.36 in the short, which is her personal best (previous best was 47.45). At that time, both of our teams were placed next to each other in the table and eventually ranked 10th and 11th, respectively, among 25 participants.

In the long program Anastasia Konga and Angelina Kučvaļska scored 94.80 (PB) and 86.79 respectively, while their previous personal bests were 86.79 and 99.29. Thus, in the sum of both programs, the young aspirant surprisingly beat the owner of the fourth place of the 2016 European Championship. At the end of the competition, Konga (145.16 PB) and Kučvalska (137.89) were classified in the 12th and 14th positions, respectively.

Note: Kuchvalska’s personal record used to be higher, but in the offseason of 2018, a new rating scale was introduced, so everything started from scratch in the record equest.

Polish figure skater Yekaterina Kurakova (189.98), who once represented Russia, won the Warsaw Cup. The second and third places were won respectively by the Swiss Sarina Jos (180.31 PB) and the Finnish Janna Jurkinen (174.96 PB), while the experienced German Nicole Schott (172.56) settled right behind the podium.

We would like to remind you that the Latvian duet Aurelija Ipolito/Lūks Russell ranked ninth among ten duets in ice dancing.
