At 4:36 into the game, Drury scored the fourth goal to bring the score to 4-3. He shot from the left circle and scored on the short side, after receiving a deflected initial shot from the right circle by Brady Skjei, which bounced off the skate of Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov.
The penalty shot was awarded after Romanov covered the puck with his glove in the crease.

Evgeny Kuznetsov scored once and assisted once, while Frederik Andersen stopped 22 shots for the Hurricanes, who hold the second seed in the Metropolitan Division.

Cizikas brought the score to a tie of 3-3, with only 22 seconds remaining in the period. He scored into an unguarded net using a one-timer shot from the slot, after Andersen slipped at the left side of the goal.

At 3:54, Reilly successfully scored a power-play goal with a one-timer from the blue line, bringing the score to 2-1.

During the next face-off, the Islanders’ goalie Semyon Varlamov left his net to handle a dumped puck, but it bounced off a support post and back towards the goal, where Noesen quickly tapped it in for a goal, making the score 5-3.

The Carolina team is scheduled to compete against the New York Rangers in the second round, after the latter defeated the Washington Capitals in a clean sweep.

At 3:13, Andrei Svechnikov scored a power play goal, bringing the score to 2-0. He passed the puck backhanded to Sebastian Aho in front of the net, but it deflected off the stick of Islanders defenseman Robert Bortuzzo.

Kuznetsov converted a penalty shot, increasing the lead to 3-1 at 13:22 into the game. He glided towards the goal and lifted a wrist shot over Varlamov, who had tried to disrupt the play with a poke check.

At 1:23 in the first period, Carolina gained a 1-0 advantage with their initial shot of the game. Teuvo Teravainen received a pass from Jarvis and skillfully scored from a difficult position, going under Varlamov’s left arm.
