Thomas Hitzlsperger sharply criticizes the World Cup award to Qatar. He talks about his findings on how the gay community is faring there – and what he thinks of the Fifa idea of simply banning the professionals from their mouths.

Thomas Hitzlsperger, 40, was born in Munich, but never played for the pros at FC Bayern – which is one of the reasons why he “only” became German champion once: with VfB Stuttgart, for whom he scored a goal on matchday 34 in 2007 helped keep Schalke 04 at bay. Hitzlsperger played 52 games for the national team, was third in the 2006 World Cup and a finalist in the 2008 European Championship.
