Vondrka said after last year that he was thinking about the end of his active career. But he trained over the summer, in the past weeks he took part in training at his parent club České Budějovice and now he has announced his return to the extra league.
The bronze medalist from the 2012 World Cup, who won the extra league title with Slavia in 2008, has so far played 954 matches in the top flight with a record of 222 goals and 265 assists. Vondrek is thus 13 points short of the 500-point mark, and in the event of Motor’s success in the playoffs, he can attack the mark of 1,000 games played.
Vondrk should experience his renewed debut in the České Budějovice jersey in Friday’s match of the 18th round against Hradec Králové.
