ANTOŠ’S RAZOR: It works great, but it doesn’t work. About the sad Czech youth, when there is nothing to wait for

Of course, I am talking about the latest results of our youth teams. Only the 16th team won twice, on the contrary, the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th teams (except for the victory against the Finns, who were a year younger) went from defeat to defeat. When we add it all up, it becomes dismal and the gulf is huge.

Even the actors themselves see it and openly talk about it. The coach of the 20s, Radim Rulík, admits that we lack speed, that we are not good enough in duels. Seventeen-year-old Eda Šalé, after his debut in the oldest junior category, is forced to state that we are lagging behind in absolutely everything.

We who follow our youth hockey have known all this for a long time. As Famfula said in the movie Marečka, give me a pen! – “It runs great, but it doesn’t sow.” And Kroupa answered him that this is a rather significant defect in the sowing machine…

I think there is no time to wait for anything. It is clear that no one will build three winter stadiums at the same time after Alois Hadamczik took over as head of the association. No one will discount hockey sticks and skates, no one will discount electricity. We need to finally start training and playing more. But it seems to me that in this respect we are still standing and stepping over our feet.

We are not at all able to agree on how to proceed, and at the same time we cannot move anywhere at the currently set pace. Radical steps are not taken, we only remain with calculations. I don’t really care if the audit of the management of the previous hockey management comes out in November or December.

I am interested in the steps leading to making our hockey players better. So that in the future we can return to the top four or five and play balanced matches with the top. To just go up. However, our youth did not pass the test in November.

It is necessary to react quickly and agree on changes. I don’t mean the adult extra league, but all other leagues have to be faster. Isn’t it time for the lower adult competitions to reach an age limit so that young guys get into the game and get the opportunity to play? Shouldn’t the Chance league also start thinking about not training in the afternoon so that the younger guys can go to study in the morning? We just have to start moving the rudder to improve.

I must say that I expected radical changes from Alois Hadamczik, the head of the union’s executive committee. I expected that freer movement of players in junior and youth competitions would be allowed. This means that if the team chooses the player, he will go to him. But that didn’t happen. By narrowing down the junior extra league and the youth extra league to come, we need to get the best guys into the extra league. So that they don’t just play league. That movement must be controlled.

Now is the time to act, so that we know how to proceed from the new season. And now the president of the union and the executive committee have the biggest say. Because we should keep as many of our good young players as possible in the domestic youth leagues, work with them. And not so that they leave us and improve the quality of foreign competitions.
