A dream come true for Adrián Martínez – La Voz de la Frontera

One more example that dreams can come true is the story of the Mexican baseball player, Adrian Martinezwho became the baseball player born in Mexico number 141 to participate in the Major Leagues.

The Mexicali Valley native took the mound to defend the Oakland Athletics jersey for the first time on May 10, 2022, where he was able to emerge victorious after pitching 5 1/3 innings.

“It was an unforgettable experience, it is something that every baseball player wants to experience at some point and it is a dream. Obviously I was a bit nervous but as the game progressed I felt more comfortable”. Martínez shared in an exclusive interview with LA VOZ DE LA FRONTERA.

Adrián retired from his first season in the Major Leagues with a record of 4 wins and 6 losses, a 6.24 runs allowed average and 53 prescription chocolates.

“When I got to my debut I didn’t believe it and I looked everywhere, it’s a dream that came true for me and I’m very happy about it.” The cachanilla player affirmed.

After his participation with the Oakland team, Martínez returned home to enjoy his family and friends, who were watching all his games in the best baseball in the world.

“Everyone is very happy, they always spoke to me to ask me when I was going to come and now I am taking advantage of this time of my vacation.” Shared Adrián Martínez, who assured that his first day back in Mexicali was shared with his family.

The Mexicalense player had the opportunity to play against one of the historic American baseball teams, the New York Yankees, whom he beat 4-1.

“That was one of the best games I threw, I watched that team since I was a child and I never imagined that I would have that opportunity, then I realized that my calendar indicated that I was possibly going to have to shoot them.” Martinez said.

Adrián is a member of Águilas de Mexicali, with whom he played in the 2018-2019 and 2020-2021 seasons.

“I still don’t know if I’m going to have a chance to play, I haven’t talked to the Oakland team but it all depends on what they tell me, if they give me the green light we’ll be here”. He affirmed.

Adrián assured that he received the invitation to play with the Mexican representative in the 2023 World Baseball Classic.

“They communicated the invitation to me and the truth is that if I would like it, it is not yet certain but I think that things can be given so that I can be there”. Adrian concluded.
