The Marina Lizarazu base, currently a player for the Hozono Global Jairis of the highest category of women’s basketball, scares Ensino de Lugo, tomorrow’s rival of the Alcantarilla players and the team in which the Madrilenian played last season, with good numbers. She played 30 regular league games, averaging 5.9 points, 1.9 assists and 4.9 PIR credits.

Marina proved to be in shape last Sunday at the Fausto Vicente against Bembibre, in a match in which she scored ten points and masterfully led the team. The good moment of form that she is going through favors her companions. Higgs, Arrojo, Brcanonovic and Claudia Contell shone alongside her in the historic victory achieved a week ago on Murcian soil.

In Galicia they know well the virtues of a player that Ensino could not retain. And it is that Lizarazu (1.72m, 27 years old), has extensive experience in the category after having also played for Quesos El Pastor, Valencia Basket and Cadí Le Seu. He started his career at the bases of Rivas, with whom he came to play the Copa de la Reina. She is part of the prolific generation of ’95, like her classmates at Jairis Rebeca Cotano and Belén Arrojo. After a great experience in American basketball, which lasted four seasons becoming MVP and conference champion with the University of Iona, she returned to the Endesa Women’s League in the 2017-18 season. She also has experience in the Spanish training teams, having played in all categories, having won five medals: three gold at the 2011, 2013 and 2015 European Championships, and two silver medals at the 2012 World Cup and 2014 European Championship.

In their only game played at home, the Galicians beat the current champions of Perfumerías Avenida

“I am very happy to be part of this club. [el Hozono Global Jairis] who is putting so much love into building a very exciting project,” said the player on the day of her presentation at an event in which she added that she hoped to “help the team and make all the fans enjoy.”

Lucas Fernández, coach of the team to the sewer, spoke yesterday at a press conference and highlighted the victory of his team against Bembibre that “the team knew how to overcome difficult times”, although it does not throw the bells on the fly in a season in which only Three games have been played. « We have to keep improving, grow and correct the mistakes, but with good sense,» added Fernández. Jairis is in sixth place in the Endesa Women’s League table, having won two games and lost one.

Tomorrow is not going to be easy at the Pazo dos Deportes de Lugo. In their only game at home, on matchday 2, Ensino beat the defending champion Perfumerías Avenida (62-55), although for now they have a 1-2 balance after the defeat on the first matchday against Zaragoza (68-63), and the last weekend during their visit to Spar Girona, where they were lifted in weight (75-54).
