Thunder, SGA and Williams protagonists in the victory that closed the series with the Pelicans

Thanks to the clear 4-0 defeat of the New Orleans Pelicans, the Oklahoma City Thunder became the youngest team in NBA history to win a playoff series.

OKC, which had not made it past the first round since 2016, will have to deal with the winner of Clippers-Mavs,

Jalen Williams in his playoff debut averaged over 21 points (53% FG, 39% 3P, 75% FT), 7 rebounds and 5 assists against the Pelicans.

“We don’t think it’s a question of youth or being young,” commented the winger after game 4. “We haven’t used that excuse all year. To be honest we didn’t even use it last year. … It’s been brought up a lot, I think it’s just something that everyone feels the need to talk about, but it’s never affected us.”

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander also preferred to talk about the first milestone achieved by the team.

“If you think about it, it’s not easy to beat an NBA team 4 times in a row… You have to make few mistakes, look at the details in every possession, it’s so complicated to win even just one game. It’s true, we are very young, for a group like ours it is even more difficult to do a feat like this. Another reason why it’s great to be part of this group.”
