Famous Baseball Coaches Visit Joe Di Maggio House Museum: Honoring a Legend

The Joe Di Maggio House Museum had the honor of receiving visits from famous baseball coaches: the American James Joseph Mansilla and the Italian Marco Sforza. Welcoming them were Agata Sandrone, BCsicilia President of Isola delle Femmine and curator of the Museum, Stefano Bologna, President of Friends of Isola delle Femmine, and Giampiero Novara, Vice President of ASD Playball Sicilia.

The two players complimented Agata Sandrone for keeping the memory of Joe Di Maggio alive, and his enthusiasm in telling the story of the legendary baseball champion, starting from the birth of his parents in Isola delle Femmine, until March 8, 1999 date of the legendary champion’s death in Hollywood.

James Mansilla and Marco Sforza told some anecdotes that saw them involved with Joe Di Maggio, also showing photos, some of which were donated to the museum to enrich the exhibition, which portrayed them in different places and at different times together with the myth of American baseball. Joseph Mansilla and Marco Sforza made themselves available to give life to a small baseball team on Isola delle Femmine.

At the end, President Agata Sandrone accompanied the two champions on a short cultural visit to the country.
