The official opening of the national final of the School Sports Games will be this Monday (October 3) at 7:30 p.m. on the Villarrica waterfront. The Pucón venue, meanwhile, will have its opening ceremony the following day, Tuesday, at 9:30 am in the Sports Center of that city.
The National Final of the School Sports Games will take place from October 3 to 9 with simultaneous competitions in both lake districts. On those days, the medal tables for volleyball, judo, chess and school table tennis will be played in the U14 category for both men and women.
The School Sports Games will gather in La Araucanía, for seven days, 680 athletes between 12 and 14 years old from schools in the 16 regions. Together with them, 208 sports technicians and delegates from the regional representations will arrive in the area, plus a human team of more than 150 people behind the organization.
The National Final is led by the Ministry of Sports through the National Sports Institute, demands an investment of more than 500 million pesos and represents a complex organizational effort to develop simultaneously and in different sports complexes, the competitions of the four disciplines to be defined in the region: table tennis, judo, volleyball and chess.
Villarrica
The first venue to be inaugurated will be Villarrica, in the El Espigón sector of the coastal avenue, next to the lake of the same name. In case of adverse weather conditions, it will be transferred to the Carlos Lucas Sports Center, Calle Presidente Ríos corner Alderete, which will be notified by media and social networks.
The appointment is invited by the sports seremi Marcela Véjar, the director(s) of the IND La Araucanía Oriana Aliquintuy, and the mayor who owns the house, Germán Vergara.
In Villarrica, starting Tuesday morning, the volleyball and table tennis competitions will begin.
Volleyball will be played in three venues: the Alberto Hurtado sports gym (ladies); the Municipal Carlos Martínez (men) and the Carlos Lucas sports center. It will run until Saturday, October 8, when the first place will be disputed at the Carlos Lucas starting in the afternoon of that day.
As for table tennis, it will also begin on Tuesday and will continue until Thursday concentrated in the gym of the Liceo Bicentenario. The final will be played at around 6:00 p.m. that day.
Pucon
The venue will be inaugurated at the Pucón Sports Center (former Quelhue raft road) on Tuesday at 9:30 am. The host will be Mayor Carlos Barra together with the ministerial and IND authorities.
As soon as the ceremony is over, at about 11 am the competition will begin in the same sports center, which will last until the dispute for the first places on Wednesday around 3 pm.
For its part, Chess will be played from Tuesday to Thursday in the hall of the Green Park Hotel in Pucón. After the elimination rounds, on Thursday the final for first place is expected in the afternoon, at around 4:00 p.m.
