ÖTV Hopes Schwärzler and Neumayer Advance to Round of 16 at Mauthausen Challenger

The two ÖTV hopes Joel Schwärzler and Lukas Neumayer made it to the round of 16 of the Mauthausen Challenger on Tuesday.

The 18-year-old from Schwärz defeated the German qualifier Mats Rosenkranz (ATP 343) 7:6 (1), 6:4. The junior world number one will now face his age colleague Martin Landaluce. The Spaniard, who trains at the Nadal Academy, is considered one of the greatest talents of his year – is already number 323 in the world!

Also in the last 16 is Lukas Neumayer, who benefits from the abandonment of third-seeded Canadian Gabriel Diallo with a score of 4:6, 7:5, 4:2. The Salzburg player now plays against the Bulgarian Dimitar Kuzmanov (ATP 260).

Gerald Melzer also made it to the round of 16; after qualifying, Jürgen Melzer’s brother defeated the Swiss Jerome Kym 6:2, 3:6, 6:3. The second-seeded Argentinian Roman Andres Burruchaga (ATP 149) is waiting for the 33-year-old in the next round.

Sebastian Sorger (1:6, 2:6 against Rehberg/D), Sandro Kopp (2:6, 3:6 against J. Cerundolo/ARG) and Dennis Novak (3:6, 6:3, 4th) have already been eliminated :6 against Pouille/F).
