While Hubert Wittmann had to admit defeat in the fight for third place at the German U18 judo championships, another Töginger qualified for the German championship with silver.

Passau – Judoka Zoltan Pilmayer is South German Vice Champion in the U18s and has thus qualified for the German Championships in Leipzig. As a Bavarian champion, the Töginger went onto the mat in Passau and proved his skills right at the start of the tournament with a lightning win.

With a bye in the first round, he was already in the semi-finals of the weight class up to 90 kg. With a nice throw and subsequent hold, he was able to pin his opponent, Leonardo DeLuca from Judocentrum Heubach, on the mat for 20 seconds and made it into the final.

Here Pilmayer was able to fend off the first attacks of his opponent, Leon Mutschler from Heidelberger JC, but through a combination and subsequent diving technique he had to admit defeat with Ippon.

Wittmann is fourth

Hubert Wittmann started as the second Töginger in the class up to 55 kg. In his last year in the U18 age group, he also wanted to get on the podium. However, Wittmann had to face the internationally experienced Joris Schleer from JC Freiburg, who immediately defeated him with an ippon throw at the first contact. In the consolation round, the player from Töging showed his skills, quickly winning with floor technique against Edwin Eschkov from Karlsruhe and with a throw against Max Schuster from TSV Großhadern. In the battle for third place, Wittmann had to go up against Schleer again. Both fought hard for the bronze medal for almost three minutes before Freiburg defeated Töginger with a feint using footwork.

Trainer Stefan Franzl is proud that after ten years he can again accompany a local fighter to the German championship with Zoltan Pilmayer.
