Sport restarts at Majorana between innovative teaching and new medals

In addition to being one of the main subjects of the educational offer of the territory, the Majorana of Milazzo, configuring itself as a center of cultural and sporting activities open to citizenship, fully interprets the Athenian paidéia in offering its students the opportunity of permanent education through promotion of sporting activities and practices.
After the latest successes of the students Giulia Giuffrida, Giulia Bucca, Sofia Caliri at the National Society Championships (CDS) of Puglia, Gaetano Munafò and Mattia Buono in the 5 km walk and in the discus and hammer throw, after the victory at the Student Championships of Badminton with the gold medal, there is a great desire to start over and continue with that commitment and passion that the Majorana teaching team of Motor Sciences has always lavished.
The many and varied disciplines, track and field athletics, volleyball, basketball, rugby, badminton, table tennis, football, 5-a-side football, archery, orienteering, trail-O, which they have, in the various stages of preparation, involved most of the pupils and pupils, over time they have accustomed the entire educational community of Majorana to excellent results in the national and international field through participation in student championships and prestigious and highly qualifying competitions.
“This conviction is confirmed by studies and research, including recent ones, – comments the Headmaster, prof. Bruno Lorenzo Castrovinci, – that practicing sports triggers an important virtuous circle in the lifestyle habits of adolescents and beyond. In addition, it is well known, to promote a healthy and harmonious development of the body, a complete and balanced cognitive, emotional and social growth, the practice of a sport and athletics in particular, makes them recognize the importance of commitment, of respect for rules and tolerance: young people, in fact, learn to measure themselves with their own abilities and with others, improve their self-esteem, control their emotions and fight the stress caused by tensions, anxiety and fatigue due to the convulsive rhythm that modern society sometimes dictates ”.
With the aim of contributing, with all the resources and projects implemented and studied by the Mamertine institute, to the increase in the psychophysical well-being of children, who are eager, moreover, to experience school today also through sport, after years of deprivation and difficulties due to the pandemic and the Dad, the teachers of Motor Sciences, in total synergy with the Headmaster, have set up activities and events that, together with the daily performance of the Motor lessons, will decline the Latin sentence of Mens sana in corpore sano in a way extremely effective and concrete.
Two PON “Sport è vita 2” and “Let’s learn how to play Badminton” are scheduled, the stages of the Institute of Athletics and the Christmas tournaments, the long-awaited and already started Archery courses and many, many other activities to play and live in the internal and external premises of the Majorana, on the slopes, in the internal and internal gyms making use of the modern and adequate technical-sporting equipment that the school has been equipped with over time.
Reconciling school and sport is, therefore, possible and is, indeed, highly advisable, as is also apparent from the academic results of the numerous student-athletes who have improved their performance and profit over time. The recognition of sport as an educational activity par excellence has finally been institutionalized thanks to the “High-level Student / Athlete Experimental Educational Project” governed by law and which in collaboration with the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) and the Italian Paralympic Committee (CIP) , in the complex of the educational-didactic planning of the autonomy school and in order to promote the right to study and the achievement of educational success, tends to allow students engaged in sporting activities of national importance, to reconcile the school path with the competitive one through the formulation of a Personalized Training Project (PFP).
Once again the technological institute of Milazzo, by adhering to this project and opportunity, demonstrates that it wants to build its didactic-educational action on the totality and centrality of the person, on the interests and desires of children and, through the correct dissemination of the culture of sport and innovative teaching, promoting healthy lifestyles, enhancing diversity and supporting those processes that generate greater and more mature self-awareness.
