NFL: Eagles win 26-17 against Cowboys in divisional duel

SUMMARY

After the Lions, Vikings, Commanders, Jaguars and Cardinals, the Eagles have made the Dallas Cowboys their latest victim on their roster. Against a team that had lost only one of its five games this season, Philadelphia posted a 26-17 victory to remain the only undefeated team in the NFL this season.

With this win against their division rival, the Eagles (6-0) remain firmly in place at the top of the National East, ahead of the New York Giants (5-1) and the Cowboys (4-2).

However, it was not without working hard and without having to show resilience that the Eagles were able to slip away with the victory. After a perfect start to the game, which saw them take a 20-0 lead, it all came crashing down for Philadelphia, who saw the Cowboys come within three short points.

The Eagles first opened the scoring early in the second quarter with a five-yard run from Miles Sanders for the touchdown. Then, moments later, AJ Brown accepted a 15-yard pass thrown by Jalen Hurts to double the lead of Philly. Two field goals from Jake Elliott allowed the Eagles to increase their lead to 20-0.

After scoring their first points with a field goal, the Cowboys opened the machine to close the gap that separated them from the Eagles. Ezekiel Elliott first scored a major on a 14-yard run, before seeing Jake Ferguson add another touchdown to bring the score to 20-17.

Hurts, however, halted Dallas’ offensive push in the fourth quarter by spotting DeVonta Smith for the touchdown. The Eagles managed the two-point conversion and they held on until the end of the game to win.

Cowboys quarterback Cooper Rush suffers his first loss in six NFL starts.

For his part, Hurts won his ninth straight regular season game, the longest active streak in the NFL.
