NBA: Luguentz Dort shows positive signs in preseason win

The Oklahoma City Thunder won their fifth preseason game 115-99 against the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday night.

Quebec’s Luguentz Dort was playing his second game since the start of the preseason schedule after missing the first three due to having to adhere to concussion protocol.

Dort has steadily improved over recent campaigns although the last one was cut short by a shoulder injury. He won more offensively with an average of 17.2 points per game. Tonight he had 16 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in the win.

Jalen Williams and Josh Giddey also had 16 points, ahead of Darius Bazley’s 15. Giddey notably made four long baskets. OKC had a much better second half but showed worrying signs with a faltering defense and being the victim of 18 turnovers.

Killian Hayes and Saddiq Bey matched the loss with 20 and 19 points respectively.

The Thunder will play a final preseason game on Thursday against the San Antonio Spurs and the Pistons will also do the same against the Memphis Grizzlies.
