MLS Series: Sebastián Driussi and Austin save their season in penalties

Austin FC overcame a 2-0 deficit to win in a penalty shootout against Real Salt Lake on Sunday in the Western Conference quarter-finals.

Sebastián Driussi scored twice in regular time and once again in the penalty shootout to save the season for his team. Meanwhile, goaltender Brad Stuver made two crucial saves during the session, as Tate Schmitt completely screwed up his last shot, too high, to confirm the victory for Austin.

Austin finished second in the East by pocketing nine points ahead of RSL in the standings.

Salt Lake took an early 2-0 lead after just 15 minutes thanks to a brace from Sergio Cordova, first on a header and then on a penalty.

Driussi limited the damage by reducing the gap to 2-1 in the 31st minute, then found the back of the net again in added time (90+4) to force extra time.

RSL were one man short from the 52nd minute when Rubio Rubin was shown a red card.
