A total of three country teams ASEAN pass to 2023 Asian U-20 Cup in Uzbekistan from March 1 to 18, 2023. Here are the three teams from Southeast Asia that will qualify for the U-20 Asian Cup.
The three Southeast Asian teams that managed to get tickets to the U-20 Asian Cup finals next year are: Indonesia, Australia and Vietnam.
The Indonesian and Australian national teams stepped into the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup with group winners status. Indonesia won Group F while Australia won Group H. While Vietnam was the best runner-up from Group F.
Indonesia and Vietnam have a tough competition in Group F. Both teams had good performances in the first two matches by sweeping the match with a win.
Garuda Asia and Young Golden Warrior also had to go through the deciding match in the final group party.
A 3-2 victory over Vietnam put Shin Tae Yong’s team as the winners of Group F as well as automatic qualification to Uzbekistan. Meanwhile, Vietnam also stepped into Uzbekistan as the best runner-up.
Another ticket won by ASEAN countries belongs to Australia, which has just held the qualification on October 14-18.
Like Indonesia, Australia also won three matches and collected nine points, scoring 9 goals and conceding 2 goals.
Group H, which played the most recent qualification, made another ASEAN team, Thailand, fail to qualify for the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup.
Thailand lost to compete with Iraq who won in terms of discipline. Before qualifying for Group H was held, Thailand was in the last position in the best runner-up list.
