Pierre Gasly did not expect that. During the second free practice session of the Singapore Grand Prix on Friday, the French driver returned to the pits normally after a run. While his mechanics were obviously in charge of inspecting the brakes which heat up a lot on the demanding Marina Bay circuit, his single-seater literally caught fire at the engine level, just behind the French driver’s head.
We then immediately see the surprise reaction of the members of his team who were pushing the single-seater to install it in the box while a team member comes to put out the fire with an extinguisher. Pierre Gasly, he took a few seconds to understand that he had to get out of his single-seater as quickly as possible. Fortunately, the fire was immediately extinguished. More fear than harm for the Habs.
The name of the French driver also came back with insistence on the sidelines of the Singapore Grand Prix. Indeed, according to information from Canal +, the Dutchman Nyck de Vries would have signed with Alpha Tauri for next season. Information which follows the confirmation of Tsunoda in the other Alpha Tauri in 2023. This induces a departure of Gasly from the bosom of Red Bull.
