Anderlecht “understands dissatisfaction”, but “strongly condemns incidents” | Jupiler Pro League

Pro League CEO Lorin Parys did not wait long to name the consequences of the shut down classic, by flares from the Anderlecht sector: “Here we draw the line”, he tweeted. “The Pro League imposes a fine of 50,000 euros and the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office will act.”

Those sanctions are the standard procedure of the Pro League in the event of a (finally) stopped match. Later, the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office will also deal with the case on the merits.

Anderlecht must then fear additional financial fines, but also match behind closed doors. Of course, the forfait defeat will also have to be legally confirmed.

In a short statement, Anderlecht said they “have a lot of understanding for the dissatisfaction of the supporters, but they strongly condemn the incidents”. The club wants to enter into a dialogue with the supporters in the coming days.

This makes it a particularly expensive penalty week for the record champion. A few days ago, Anderlecht was also fined 50,000 euros by UEFA.

The European Football Association decided this after the riots in the European away game against West Ham United. In addition, Anderlecht is also not allowed to sell tickets for its next European away match, against Silkeborg. If the fans misbehave again, a second match will automatically be added.
