A defender who could have more room after shining against Detroit

Dallas’ win over Detroit on Sunday had a few things to note. All of them came from the defensive side, although there was someone who stood out despite his little participation. The defensive line is showing tremendous performance this season in large part because of its depth.

In that direction the player that should be highlighted is Sam Williams. The rookie had already shown his potential on several occasions with important plays sporadically. However, in this case he had a direct impact on the game. What’s interesting is that he did some good things both rushing the quarterback and on the ground.

Williams finished the game with two sacks. Those takedowns were the first of his career, so they will surely be significant. Although they were also relevant to the development of this victory. A sack of Jared Goff in the third quarter derailed the Lions’ comeback attempt that forced them to punt quickly.

In the last partial he had an action that appears in the previous video. Although the spectacular nature of the tackle is high and could perhaps lead to an infraction depending on the referees, it is still a valuable play that began to complicate another drive. That mighty TFL pushed the offense back two yards. Goff was forced to risk the ball a couple of plays later, but Jourdan Lewis came up with an interception.

Although the defensive end would have another play where he did everything on his own. Already with Detroit desperate to be 17-6 down on the scoreboard, Williams sentenced the duel. As Goff was about to throw the ball, the rookie simply snatched it out of his hands and returned possession to Dak Prescott at the Lions 24-yard line.

The stats show that the defensive end had three tackles on Sunday afternoon. However, the disruption generated was fantastic. That’s because two were sacks, one of which he created and recovered for a fumble, and one for loss of yards. But what adds extra credit is that he did it all in just 14 snaps. For that reason, it would be logical for Williams to have more participation receiving the Bears.
