Félix Auger-Aliassime, number 9 in the world, convinced like no other indoors this season. At all indoor tournaments where he survived the starting round, he reached the final. After tournament victories in Florence and Antwerp, he has been undefeated for 11 individual events.

Like an early final

If the 22-year-old also wants to reach the final in Basel, he has to get rid of none other than Carlos Alcaraz and thus the current number 1 in the world. Auger-Aliassime has what it takes. After beating Miomir Kecmanovic in the round of 16, in which he only conceded one game to his opponent, the Canadian said he had “never played so well in his life before”.

Follow the semi-finals in Basel on Saturday from 2:15 p.m. live on SRF Zwei. First, Félix Auger-Aliassime and Carlos Alcaraz play for the finals, followed by the game between Holger Rune and Roberto Bautista Agut.

And that’s saying something. After all, Auger-Aliassime already defeated Alexander Zverev in Wimbledon (2021) and a month ago at the Laver Cup also Novak Djokovic. With 2-0 victories, most recently in the Davis Cup, Auger-Aliassime has a positive record against Alcaraz.

In the second semi-final, Holger Rune from Denmark, last week’s tournament winner in Stockholm, meets the Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut, who defeated Stan Wawrinka. With Alcaraz and Bautista Agut, two Spaniards are in the semi-finals in Basel for the first time. A Spaniard has never won the tournament.
