The moving words of a grieving father. Monday evening, on X, the former Cameroonian mixed martial arts (MMA) champion announced the terrible news, the disappearance of his son, at the age of fifteen months, the circumstances of whose death are not known.
“Too early to go, but he’s gone. My little boy, my partner, Kobe was full of life and joy. Now he is lifeless. I screamed his name, over and over, but he didn’t answerwrites Francis Ngannou. I was the best version of myself alongside him and now I have no idea who I am. Life is so unfair to hit us where it hurts the most… How to live with that? Please help me because I have no idea what to do or how to get out of this.”
In another message also posted on X, the fighter touched deep in his flesh, cried out his immense sadness. “What is the purpose of life if what we seek to escape is ultimately what hits us the hardest? Why is life so unfair and unforgiving? Why does life always take from us what we don’t have? I’m fucking tired.”
Among the thousands of responses, that of another MMA legend, Conor McGregor: “I am so sorry to hear of your loss Francis, my prayers are with you and your family at this time.” Cédric Doumbé responded with a white heart.
Francis Ngannou, 37, left the UFC in 2023 to pursue his career in boxing. On March 9, in Saudi Arabia, he lost heavily to the British Anthony Joshua. He was expected to return to the cage to face Renan Ferreira, but the fight date had not been announced.
