Kai Kollmorgen (martial arts school in the monastery garden) won his three preliminary round fights with Ippon. In the final against the Georgian Alibegashvili, he couldn’t find a recipe against his opponent’s extremely bent posture and lost with ippon.
Our “biggest” (2.10 meters) Jens-Peter Bischof (Randori Berlin) fought his way through to the final with three fights won. Here he faced Armenian (ex-Russia) Grigory Garyants, losing by a controversial ippon by video evidence.
Botond Draskoczy (TSV Reutlingen) won Pool B and lost in the semi-finals to Spaniard Rodriguez. In the bronze match against Walker (Great Britain), Botond secured the bronze medal in the golden score with Wazaari for Tai-otoshi on the left. “Botond’s tactical masterpiece in this very close fight deserves special mention,” reports team manager Torsten Heilmann.
