The problems with the new main shareholders around Todd Boehly seemed insurmountable. The dismissal hit Tuchel like a blow. Especially since the German coach was allowed to go on a shopping spree in the summer and spent a total of 315 million euros on new players.

Tuchel explains himself after leaving Chelsea: He “personally felt at home” in Chelsea

On Sunday, Tuchel himself broke his silence on Twitter and commented on Chelsea’s departure. “This is one of the most difficult statements I’ve ever had to write – and I had hoped I wouldn’t have to do it for many years. I am devastated that my time at Chelsea has come to an end,” writes Tuchel, very emotionally.

“This is a club where I have felt at home, both professionally and personally. Thank you to all the staff, the players and the fans who made me feel welcome from the start.”

At the end of his statement, he emphasized how much fun and joy the coach had in this task: “The pride and joy I felt when I helped the team win the Champions League and the Club World Cup will always be always be remembered. I am honored to have been a part of this club’s history and the memories of the past 19 months will always have a special place in my heart.”

Tuchel is part of the club’s history. Just not in the present or future.
