The first edition of the City of Córdoba Cup was inaugurated yesterday at the Cerutti Sports Center. The “Super 6” brings together women’s and men’s basketball teams from Córdoba. This tournament has the objective of “promoting sport in our city”, as well as “installing the Córdoba brand”, positioning “the city in the highest place in the region”, as indicated by the Secretary of Government and General Management of Cabinet, Miguel Siciliano.
The day began yesterday afternoon with the confrontation between the women’s teams of Universitario and the Selection of the Basketball Federation of the Province of Córdoba (FBPC). The victory was taken by the “U” by 63-48 against the Cordoba team.
The day was completed with the dispute between the Institute and Barrio Parque. On this first date, Banda Norte de Río Cuarto (for Zone 1) and Chañares de James Craik (for Zone 2) were released.
For its part, the men’s fixture of the first day presented the Athens crosses against the FBPC National Team, and the Institute against Barrio Parque. The teams that did not play matches on this first men’s date will be San Isidro de San Francisco (Zone 1) and Independiente de Oliva (Zone 2).
All the matches, of the three dates plus the final crosses, are played at the Cerutti Sports Center and take place with free admission. The agenda extends until Sunday, when the final of each category and the matches to define the locations of 3rd to 6th place will take place. The women’s final, which will face the first of each group, will be at 6:00 p.m., while the men’s final is scheduled for 8:00 p.m., with the same format.
Prizes will be the same for both genders: $550,000 for first place, $450,000 for second, $350,000 for third and $100,000 for fourth through sixth. The authorities will be present to deliver the awards.
