Peru collects 27 medals in the Pan American Cup and the Pan American Open

The national delegation wins 11 gold, 10 silver and 6 bronze medals.

They left the name of Peru high. The national judo team won a total of 27 medals in the Cadet-Junior Pan American Cup and the Lima 2022 Pan American Open, held from September 14 to 18 at Sports Center 3 of the Videna High Performance Center.

Our judokas faced the best exponents of the continent. Eleven gold, 10 silver and 6 bronze medals were harvested in this international event.

On the first day of competition, Luciana Julca (-57kg), Mateo Cóndor (-60kg) and Benjamín Galarreta (-81kg) bathed in gold in the Cadet category. The Juniors were not far behind and swept the medals by adding 4 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze on the second day of the tournament.

The Lima 2022 Pan American Open, organized by the Peruvian Judo Sports Federation, led by María Martínez, and the Pan American Judo Confederation, awarded points for qualifying for the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Camila Figueroa (-78 kg), Yuta Galarreta (-90 kg), Alonso Wong (-73 kg) and Brillith Gamarra (-52 kg) rose to the top of the podium.
