NFL Picks: Tom Brady and the Bucs will beat the Cowboys again

This season might be remembered as the changing of the guard for quarterbacks.

Los Tom Brady (45 years old) and Aaron Rodgers (38) still dominate the scene, but they already have the baton in hand and are ready to deliver it to a new generation of quarterbacks who seem poised to become the new icons of the NFL.

it is the law of life. It will happen to all of us, sooner or later.

A couple of seasons ago, Brady won his seventh Super Bowl and first with the Tampa Bay Buccaneerswhile Rodgers was named league MVP in the most recent two seasons.

Nobody, not even Brady, is eternal and this aims to be his last season in the NFL after 23 years of service and the well-earned nickname of GOAT

Rodgers may have a little more rope left, but his chances to win a second championship ring, necessary to reinforce his legacy, are running out.

Meanwhile, the young gunslingers must prove they’re ready to step out of supporting roles and take on a leading role in the NFL.

Twelve teams will start the 2022 season with a starting quarterback age 25 or younger, including Trey Lance (22 years old) and Justin Fields (23), who will meet this Sunday in the duel between San Francisco and Chicago.

In Miami, Mac Jones (23), of the Patriots, will face Tua Tagovailoa (24), of the Dolphins.

The four most recent Super Bowls featured a quarterback under the age of 26, though only one of them won: Patrick Mahomes.

The “old guard” still dominates, but not for long.

GAME OF THE WEEK

Buffalo (-2.5) at Los Angeles Rams

The top two pound for pound of the 2022 season head to head. In my Super Bowl pick I have Bills and Rams (I see that it is a popular choice), so there is no better way to start the New Year.

The Rams are the champions and their best players are back, with the addition of linebacker Bobby Wagner and wide receiver Allen Robinsonwho has 495 receptions, 6,409 yards and 40 touchdowns since arriving in the league in 2014.

Wagner (at least 100 tackles in 10 straight seasons) joins a defense that includes Aaron Donald y Jalen Ramseyread terrible news for the rest of the NFL.

Matthew Stafford He starts the season with an elbow injury, but the Rams quarterback says he can throw any pass it takes.

The Bills’ defense, which includes two of the NFL’s best safeties in Jordan Poyer y Micah Hyde (five interceptions each in 2021), but he still hasn’t got his best cornerback back, Tre’Davious Whiteand that means Buffalo will have to use a rookie (Kaiir Elam o Christian Benford) on the opposite side of Dane Jackson.

That’s not good when you have to face the wide receiver Cooper Coupthe NFL leader in receptions (145), yards (1,947) and touchdowns (16) last season, in which he was also the Super Bowl MVP.

The Rams defense will also be busy with Josh Allen and the rest of the Bills attack.

Since arriving in the league in 2018, Allen has passed for 14,114 yards and rushed for another 2,325, with a combined 135 touchdowns (103 passing, 31 rushing and one receiving).

Stefon Diggshis favorite target, will have one of the key duels in this game against Ramsey, considered by many to be the best cornerback in the league.

El pick: It’s only Week 1, but if Buffalo is truly a Super Bowl contender, it has to beat the best, including the champions. Bills 27-24 Rams

Sure pick

New York Giants en Tennessee (-5.5)

Derrick “King” Henry is back against one of the worst run defenses last season. Titans 28-18 Giants

El upset

Pittsburgh vs. Cincinnati (-6.5)

The (brief) era of Mitch Trubisky will begin with a victory against the current AFC championsbut it will be thanks to the Pittsburgh defense. Steelers 24-21 Bengals

Two minute drill

New Orleans (-5.5) at Atlanta

Coach Dennis Allen will debut with a win in a close game against Marcus Mariota, who will show he can move Atlanta’s offense. Saints 27-24 Falcons

Cleveland and Carolina (-2)

Baker Mayfield couldn’t ask for a better game to debut with Carolina. Panthers 24-20 Browns

San Francisco (-7) at Chicago

Honestly, I think Justin Fields is better than Trey Lance, but the Niners’ defense will save the day. 49ers 20-14 Bears

Philadelphia (-4) not Detroit

The Lions are going to surprise one or two teams this year, but not Jalen Hurts and the Eagles. Philadelphia 31-21 Detroit

Indianapolis (-7) at Houston

Matt Ryan makes his debut in Indianapolis, which seems to just need a good quarterback to compete in the AFC. Colts 27-23 Texans

New England in Miami (S/L)

Miami is not the place Bill Belichick wants to start a season. By the way, do you already have an offensive coordinator? Dolphins 28-20 Patriots

Baltimore (-7) en New York Jets

Lamar Jackson does not yet have his contract extension; the Jets still don’t have what it takes to even be pretenders. Ravens 31-17 Jets

Jacksonville en Washington (-2.5)

Carson Wentz and a short passing system will be enough to get past his former coach, Doug Pederson. Commanders 26-21 Jaguars

Kansas City (-6) at Arizona

With or without Tyreek Hill, Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City’s offense, it will be among the best in the league. Chiefs 28-21 Cardinals

Las Vegas at Los Angeles Chargers (-3.5)

Derek Carr and Davante Adams face the new Bolts defense, with Khalil Mack and JC Jackson. Josh McDaniels debuts in Las Vegas with a win. Raiders 30-27 Chargers

Green Bay (-2) not Minnesota

As Aaron Rodgers finds chemistry with his new corps of wide receivers, the defense of Green Bay must solve one or another game. Packers 23-20 Vikings

Tampa Bay (-2.5) at Dallas

Both of these teams have serious problems on the offensive line, but only one of them has Tom Brady. Bucs 27-24 Cowboys

Denver (-6.5) and Seattle

Russell Wilson returns to Seattle to confirm what we all know: Pete Carroll was wrong and should have helped his star quarterback more. Broncos 31-21 Seahawks
