Axel Witsel did not miss his start in the Spanish capital. The Red Devil was plucked from Dortmund by Atlético Madrid last summer and quickly grew – actually central in the defense – into a strong holder. Witsel is immediately awarded the Player of the Month trophy.

At Atlético, Witsel moved back a row, leaving his familiar position as a defensive midfielder for a spot at the heart of the defence. With success: Witsel quickly became the basic pawn and convinced with some great performances.
The Red Devil is now being rewarded for his excellent start with his new squad with the Player of the Month trophy in August. In fluent Spanish, he thanks the fans and his teammates on social media.
