James Rodríguez at Olympiacos: this is how Carlos Corberán sees it, the coach who left Greece | Colombians Abroad

Carlos Corberancoach who made James Rodríguez debut in Olympiacosspoke for the first time about what he thinks of the Colombian signing for the Greek club.

Unfortunately, Corberan was dismissed for Olympiacos, just the day that James played his first match with that club, and that he lost 2-1 with Aris Thessaloniki. However, the Spanish coach did not lack praise for Rodríguez, explaining why did he play a few days after arriving in Greece.

“There are players who need more of that adaptation period, and there are others who need less. I spoke with the player, he came with training dynamics, he had played a few minutes in Qatar and I was watching them. In the end, there are players who need more training and others who may not need the time that others do to make a difference. James is a level player who does not need that time, only with his willingness and his knowledge of how to do it, he is capable, for me, of competing at a different level, “said Corberán to the VB Snail.

The coach added: “The possibility of incorporating James appeared in the last week of the Greek market. The club made that bet. I had two training sessions with him and the game. Just working with a player of that quality in that time, it’s a shame, because is a player capable of changing a dynamic”.

“I don’t have to find out anything about James. We are talking about a player who has been and is, worldwide, a benchmark and capable of making a difference. In two days, more than anything the set-up, assessing whether the player is ready or not, I felt that he was ready and that made it easier for him to play the game. I made the decision as a coach and you have to put the players who you think are going to help the team at the match. In fact, while he was on the field, the team won the last game I coached; by changing it, they make us the goals that prevented us from winning that game, ”Corberán explained to Colombian radio.
