Football in Switzerland – FC Zurich dismisses coach Franco Foda – Sport

Quick end for Franco Foda at FC Zurich: The completely unsuccessful start to the season cost the German coach his job with the Swiss soccer champions after only two and a half months in office. After eight games without a win, FCZ is second to last in the Swiss league, failed to qualify for the Champions League under Foda, lost both previous games in the Europa League and made a fool of themselves in the cup at second division Lausanne.

“I deeply regret this separation. Unfortunately, the results did not live up to expectations,” said Zurich President Ancillo Canepa. Foda, 56, only succeeded master coach Andre Breitenreiter, who switched to TSG Hoffenheim, in July. Foda’s contract, who had previously looked after the Austrian national team, ran until June 2024. A successor in Zurich has not yet been determined.
